Creating an Artist Account - Basic Info
What info do we ask for and why?
- Full Name: Things are just better when we can talk as humans. Your name allows us to address things to you but if you wanna put in a fake name- go ahead Steve!
- Email: Email is how you login and also how we send you email notifications. This is never shared with anyone outside Bandsurf including promoters, vendors, advertisers, or even artists.
- Phone Number: Your phone number is only used for text message notifications; something you allow us to do through your notification preferences. Once again it is never shared with anyone outside of Bandsurf.
- Zip Code, City, State, and Country: Your location is used to help identify shows for you. We don’t want to send someone who lives in Wisconsin a show in California. This also allows artist you follow to see where their followers are located. It is fully anonymized- in fact here is a screenshot of what they see.
- Password: This is actually the one thing we do sell to anyone and everyone. (Kidding, of course).
Artist Info
As an artist we request that you fill out your artist profile. This is to make sure we can give fans that information they need. We don't ask for a lot but the list is below.
- Website (required): The website of your band! This can be whatever you want it to be but we do require all artists have something.
- Bio (required): Some information about yourself! This will be displayed to fans on your profile so make it fun and informational.
- Artist Image: This can be your logo, a picture of you, or anything. For best results please use a square image as it is displayed a circle that centers on the middle of the image.
- Primary Genre (required): What type of music do you play? In the future we will have discovery features and this will help get you in front of the right fans.
- Secondary Genre: One genre is often not enough to talk about an artist. You can add a second genre here. This will also be used in discovery.
- Spotify Artist Link: A link that will be on your artist profile that directs fans to your Spotify page.
- Apple Music Artist Link: A link that will be on your artist profile that directs fans to your Apple Music page.
- SoundCloud Artist Link: A link that will be on your artist profile that directs fans to your SoundCloud page.
- Instagram Profile Link: A link that will be on your artist profile that directs fans to your Instagram page.
- TikTok Profile Link: A link that will be on your artist profile that directs fans to your TikTok page.
Ownership Workflow
Bandsurf is built on collecting data from various sources. Your profile may already exist without you having a Bandsurf profile. Because of this we built the ownership workflow. If an artist already exists on Bandsurf and you sign up claiming you are that artist a member of Bandsurf's team will review the submission and either approve or deny it.
- You will be notified both in-app and via email if this applies to you
- You may be asked to provide additional information or documents proving you are associated with the artist
- All communications for this workflow will come from artists@bandsurf.co
